The Small Group Director provides strategic leadership, operational excellence, and people development for the church’s Small Groups. This role is designed for a high-capacity leader —someone who is self-driven, structured, analytical, visionary, and energized by building scalable systems that create long-term impact. This person will oversee all aspects of Small Groups across various ministries to ensure healthy groups, equipped leaders, clear systems, and continued growth.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Ministry Growth
- Lead, implement, and continually enhance the overall Small Group strategy aligned with church vision and discipleship goals.
- Lead the Grow Strategy Team through planning, preparation, execution, and follow‑up.
- Develop annual ministry goals, metrics, and quarterly action plans.
- Conduct regular one‑on‑ones, coaching conversations, performance management, and development planning with Ministry Leaders (Men’s, Young Adult, Family Life) and ministry coordinators.
- Build a healthy, accountable, high‑performing team culture.
- Lead training and facilitate connection for Small Group leaders and coaches.
Systems, Operations & Execution
- Oversee systems, workflows, resources and ministry processes to ensure excellence, efficiency, and scalability.
- Manage Cross‑Functional Teams (CFTs) for Small Group events, launches, campaigns, and programming.
Communication & Marketing
- Manage internal marketing and communication strategies that drive awareness, engagement and participation in Small Groups.
- Partner with the Marketing Team on campaigns, launches, promotional messaging, and seasonal initiatives.
Member Care & Support
- Provide support to members navigating Small Group placement, challenges, or questions.
- Address relational tensions or group conflict with wisdom, discretion, and care.
- Ensure leaders are supported in creating healthy, welcoming group environments.
Reporting & Analytics
- Produce regular reporting dashboards on Small Group health, participation, retention, leader development, and growth trends.
- Use data to inform decisions, improve systems, and strengthen ministry outcomes.
Qualifications
Required
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams
- Strong project management and operational leadership skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong emotional intelligence and conflict resolution ability
- A growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a lifestyle of integrity.
- A heart for discipleship and spiritual formation in the local church.
- Alignment with the mission, vision, and theological convictions of Concord Church.
- Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred
- Experience leading church small groups /discipleship ministries
- Master’s Degree in Theology, Ministry, Christian Education, or another related field
- 3+ years of ministry experience, preferably in discipleship, small groups, or pastoral leadership.
- A minimum of three years (3) of supervisory experience.

- Advanced Skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and web savvy.
- Experience with technology, digital communication tools, and church management software.
Physical Requirements
- An employee in this position primarily works in a typical office or sanctuary environment, is generally sedentary, and uses computers, calculators, phones, and other office equipment to draft documents, communicate with church staff, and fulfill other position duties.
- An employee in this position is required to walk, hear, and speak to members and staff. Work is conducted in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing environment.
- The ability to manage stress, build professional and collaborative relationships, and reason through both complex church business situations and profound personal crises that members may experience is required.
- A flexible schedule is required since this position requires evening and weekend work due to scheduled events.
Travel Requirements
A valid Texas drivers’ license and acceptable motor vehicle record is required.
