Role Description

The West Coast is one of the highest-opportunity territories in human remains logistics — California alone drives a significant share of international repatriation volume to Asia, Latin America, and beyond, and our LAX, SFO, and IAH gateways makes us uniquely positioned to serve it. We’re hiring a West Coast Business Development Manager to own this territory end-to-end. You’ll identify and convert funeral homes that have never worked with CSI, develop deep relationships across a region with dense immigrant communities and high international shipment activity, and be a trusted, recurring presence at California and regional funeral association events. This is an ownership role — you’ll set your travel cadence, build your prospect list, and drive the strategy.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain a comprehensive prospect database across California, the Pacific Northwest, Arizona, Nevada, and adjacent markets
  • Prioritize Tier 1 accounts: funeral homes serving immigrant communities, advertising international services, or located near major airports (LAX, SFO, SEA, PHX)
  • Drive net‑new customer acquisition — own full cycle from cold outreach through first shipment and account expansion
  • Represent CSI at California Funeral Directors Association events and other regional conferences; move beyond booth presence into relationship‑building
  • Leverage CSI’s LAX gateway and pickup service as a distinct competitive advantage in your pitches
  • Expand initial accounts from single shipments into consulate work, documentation, and full logistics partnerships
  • Maintain CRM records and document relationship origination for commission tracking
  • Bring market intelligence back to leadership — pricing feedback, competitive intel, service gaps

Who You Are

  • 5–10 years in the funeral industry — former director, location manager, trade service rep, or pre‑need counselor with commercial instincts
  • Hands‑on understanding of international repatriation — you’ve navigated consulate paperwork, airline cargo, and documentation requirements
  • Existing relationships in the California or Pacific funeral community are a meaningful advantage
  • Self‑directed and comfortable operating independently — you don’t need a playbook to go build a territory
  • Willing to travel roughly 50% of the time; valid driver’s license and ability to work across time zones
  • Empathetic communicator — you understand that every shipment represents a family in grief and you speak accordingly

Salary Range

$80,000 – $90,000 base salary + Commission
