Production Supervisor (Vacuum Forming)

Position Summary

The Production Supervisor is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for the daily execution, safety, and quality of the vacuum forming production floor. This position is a working supervisor role, requiring direct involvement in production tasks, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities

1. Team Leadership & Development

Lead, mentor, and train Oven Leads and Manufacturing Technicians to achieve daily production goals.
Participate in new hire interviews and provide comprehensive process training across various manufacturing areas.
Manage team resources, including approving time‑off requests and aligning personnel based on technical competence.
2. Production Oversight & Setup

Coordinate all production inputs: raw materials, tooling (Molds / Pre‑Draw Box / Plug Assist), and necessary hand tools.
Ensure efficient workflow and adherence to daily/weekly production schedules.
Verify work area readiness and setup accuracy before job execution.
Provide hands‑on support and demonstrate the ability to perform all manufacturing tasks with accuracy.
3. Quality, Safety, and Process Improvement

Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on the production floor.
Review and approve Quality Inspections according to established standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve thermoforming process issues, including mold integrity and function.
Ensure accurate inventory control and precise documentation management (Work Orders, Scrap Reports, Setup Verification).
4. Reporting and Collaboration

Promptly escalates all production‑related issues, including mold or process concerns, to the Operations Manager or Process Engineer.
Actively collaborates with Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to support efficient, compliant processes.
Upholds company policies, regulatory compliance, and ensures accurate preparation and maintenance of key documents (Production Work Orders, Labels, Scrap Reports).
Required Qualifications & Skills

Experience

– 4+ years in a manufacturing environment with 1+ year in a direct leadership role.
Education

– High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree preferred.
Specialized Skills

– Experience in thermoforming/vacuum forming preferred.
Technical Proficiency

– Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and quality systems. Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including Bill of Materials.
Core Skills

– Strong communication, conflict resolution, decision‑making, and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production software.
Work Environment & Expectations

Availability:

Requires regular on‑site presence (approx. 40 hours/week) and flexibility for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Physical Demands:

Manual dexterity and ability to lift 50 lbs. with assistance. Frequent movement across the facility.
Environment:

Exposure to loud machinery, temperature fluctuations, and various chemicals.
