Overview
TelevisaUnivision Local Media – Phoenix is seeking an experienced News Producer for the local newscasts. The News Producer generates, plans and develops ideas for the daily newscasts, and is responsible for conceiving, writing and preparing broadcast material including local and national stories, newsbreaks, teasers, headlines, and digital content. The News Producer must have a strong sense of journalistic ethics, excellent editorial judgment, and a good understanding of local, state and national current events, as well as knowledge of Latino community demographics in Arizona.

Responsibilities

Plan, structure, write, and edit newscasts and other news programming or material, including multimedia and digital properties.

Work with reporters to conceptualize, coordinate and approve story packages to conform to station policies, practices and procedures.

Produce and edit editorial content directly to the website as needed and send push alerts.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of experience as a News Producer.

Digital content creation experience.

Ability to lead and conduct the news meeting, generating story ideas, dispatching news crews and reporters.

Oversee the on-air look of news broadcasts to ensure compliance with UTG and station policies.

Full command of the Spanish language, both written and spoken, is required.

Proofread rundowns and copy for accuracy prior to going on the air.

In charge of content and creative flow of the assigned broadcast, including writing teases and headlines, ordering graphics, and overseeing story production.

Work collaboratively with the News Director as liaison between producer, photographers, and reporters in the field.

Select and assign stories to reporters and photographers.

Prepare newscast rundown (story selection and order) on iNews system for newscasts.

Supervise the writing and pre-production of each newscast element, including all anchor read stories, reporter full tracks, video editing and graphics.

Line produce (back timing) newscasts while on the air.

Create and execute original stories for show development and sweeps production projects.

Possess leadership skills, be a team player, self-starter with solid news judgment and ethics.

Understand all aspects of newsroom operations and electronic newsgathering (ENG), as well as general office equipment and computers.

Work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Work from the office.

Employment and education will be verified.

Possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Perform other duties as deemed necessary.
