ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Publicist to support our public relations team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about storytelling, media relations, and brand reputation. The Publicist will assist in executing PR strategies, managing media outreach, media scheduling, and supporting day-to-day communications initiatives that strengthen brand awareness.

The Publicist at BRAVE Books is responsible for securing strategic media coverage, building press relationships, and amplifying the visibility of BRAVE Books authors, products, and brand initiatives. This role plays a key part in expanding national awareness, supporting book launches, and positioning BRAVE Books as a leading voice in faith-based, values-driven publishing.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator, highly organized, relationally driven, and energized by pitching compelling stories that advance BRAVE Books’ mission.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and execute comprehensive publicity plans for book launches, campaigns, and company initiatives

Build and maintain relationships with journalists, podcast hosts, media producers, influencers, and strategic partners

Draft and distribute press releases, media pitches, talking points, and press kits

Secure interviews, features, reviews, podcast appearances, and speaking opportunities for authors and leadership

Coordinate media prep sessions and develop key messaging for interviews

Track, measure, and report on media placements and publicity impact

Monitor media trends and identify timely opportunities for commentary and thought leadership

Collaborate with Marketing and Social teams to align publicity efforts with broader campaigns

Manage media lists and maintain organized outreach systems

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field

2 years’ experience in PR, communications, or a related role

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Proven ability to pitch and secure earned media placements

Exceptional relationship-building and networking ability

Highly organized with strong project management skills

Strategic thinking with the ability to craft compelling story angles

Creative thinker with the ability to develop fresh ideas and approach challenges from new or unconventional perspectives

Alignment with BRAVE Books’ mission and values

Ability to manage multiple launches and deadlines simultaneously

Experience managing crisis communications or high-visibility media situations

Established network of national media contacts
