Director of Sales & Business Development
Status: Full-Time / Hybrid
A growing, multi-location retail organization is seeking a Director of Sales to lead performance, develop teams, and create a high-energy, customer-focused sales culture across all locations.
This is a hands-on, field-based leadership role requiring regular travel between stores and active presence on the sales floor. The ideal candidate is a strong coach, motivator, and operator who knows how to drive results while making sales engaging and team-oriented.
Position Overview
The Director of Sales is responsible for driving revenue growth, consistency, and leadership development across multiple locations. This role partners closely with Store Managers to elevate performance through training, coaching, accountability, and execution .
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coach multi-location Store Managers to improve sales results, closing rates, and average ticket
- Monitor and analyze sales KPIs across locations
- Identify performance gaps and implement targeted improvement plans
- Step in to support complex or high-value sales opportunities when needed
- Own and evolve the company’s sales training programs
- Establish consistent sales language, standards, and expectations across all locations
- Conduct in-store coaching, training sessions, and role-play
- Develop Store Managers into strong, accountable sales coaches
- Standardize and reinforce a relationship-driven sales approach
- Ensure messaging clearly communicates value and positions team members as trusted advisors
- Maintain a consistent, high-quality customer experience across all locations
Partnerships & Business Development
- Build and maintain relationships with designers, builders, and trade partners
- Support the growth of strategic partnerships and local business development initiatives
- Collaborate with marketing on events and partnership activation
Promotions & Execution
- Partner with leadership and marketing on promotional strategy
- Train teams to execute promotions effectively while maintaining margin integrity
- Ensure consistent execution across all locations
Field Leadership & Coverage
- Provide leadership coverage when Store Managers are unavailable
- Maintain performance standards and momentum during transitions
- Serve as a visible, hands-on leader on the sales floor
- Travel regularly between locations within the region
- Provide in-person coaching, observation, and leadership support
- Support expansion into new or acquired locations as needed
What We’re Looking For
- Proven success in high-ticket retail or consultative sales environments (home furnishings experience a plus)
- Strong background in sales leadership, coaching, and performance management
- Experience leading across multiple locations or teams
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to leverage KPIs to drive decisions
- High energy, strong presence, and ability to motivate teams
- Willingness to travel frequently and lead from the front
