The Stevens Dramatic Society at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey is seeking a Director for its Fall 2026 play production. The society is entirely student‑run with a full cast and production board of full‑time college students. The role requires working with tight student schedules, budget constraints and engaging students who pursue theatre mainly as a hobby.
Compensation: $3500 for 12 weeks.
Responsibilities
- Run auditions and callbacks; coordinate with the student Producer for casting.
- Work with the Stage Manager to schedule rehearsals.
- Attend weekly Production Board meetings.
- Collaborate with the Producer and Production Board to set the overall concept and look of the production.
- Conduct rehearsals and educate/train an assistant Director.
- Be present at performances and make a best effort to attend.
Schedule: Auditions/Callbacks likely during the first few weeks of September (Thursday–Sunday). Rehearsals begin the Monday following callbacks: Monday–Thursday 8 pm–11 pm and Saturdays 10 am–2 pm. Performance dates are November 5 at 9 pm, November 6 at 8 pm, and two shows on November 7 (2 pm and 8 pm).
Qualifications
- Experience working with college students is appreciated.
