Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced editor to oversee operations at four small newsrooms located in Murfreesboro, Clarksville, Columbia, and Jackson, Middle Tennessee.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain daily and weekly local news coverage plans.

Coach news staff to produce quality content, including articles, photos, and videos.

Represent the newspaper to the community and serve as a community voice.

Collaborate with regional news operations to share content.

Work with digital and print planners to coordinate presentation.

Plan training sessions for news staff.

Promote personal and institutional brand.

Complete administrative duties within the news department.

Provide excellent customer service.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or equivalent experience and education.

Five years of experience developing a personal brand through reporting or editing across online or print, plus social media platforms.

Experience with advanced storytelling techniques on multiple platforms.

Knowledge of social media and customer feedback tools, including engagement practices and audience analytics (e.g., Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics, Google Analytics).

Exceptional journalism, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to multi‑task and excel under deadline pressure in a rapidly changing environment.

Self‑motivated, self‑directed, and capable of collaborating with diverse personalities.

Writing, spelling, and grammar skills, knowledge of AP Style, and understanding of media law and ethical principles.

Proficiency in MS Office and CMS publishing skills.
