Job Summary/Description

Kgns+ is looking for a dynamic anchor to join our newsroom. The ideal candidate will join our anchor team for our Spanish operations.
This candidate will anchor broadcast and digital, as well as co-produce Spanish newscasts. You will be responsible for overseeing and assisting the producer on all aspects of the newscast/s content.
In addition to anchoring duties on evening news, this position will include delivering news content for digital, streaming, and social media platforms. We're looking for a creative, experienced storyteller to find and share high-quality reports.
Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
Anchor our market-leading Monday-Friday evening newscasts
Exercise a strong news judgment, research complicated stories, and determine the content and quality of newscasts
Act as a co-producer during the late newscasts
Read/copy edit news scripts before each show
Be a digital-first journalist, posting compelling content to social media and the station's digital platforms
Be involved in the community, emceeing events, and making public appearances as requested by the station
Be ready to report/field anchor when major breaking news happens
Report and produce regular franchise stories
Qualifications/Requirements:
A college degree in journalism or a related field is required
Must hold a valid driver's license and be insurable
Initiative and attention to detail are required
Be able to write clearly and accurately; great grammar!
Must be able to work well under sometimes intense pressure and tight deadlines
Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving in a manner that will work well with co-workers, supervisors, and viewers
Ability to keep up with national and local news/weather is required
Ability to enterprise local hard-news stories is required
Computer knowledge, including newsroom software, Microsoft applications, and Internet use
Produce newscasts, including stacking, writing scripts, editing copy, ordering graphics to fit stories, making maps, coordinating live shots with directors, production staff, reporters & photographers
Must be able to edit video and audio
Must be able to carry camera equipment (about 15-20 LB.)
