Job Title
Senior Reporter, PEOPLE

Job Summary
The Senior Reporter will work closely with the Executive Editorial Director and brand leadership to help identify and cover news stories that can benefit from original reporting, and tap into their rolodex of sources to help enrich other developing news stories in progress to ensure that PEOPLE is publishing deeply reported celebrity content and consistently breaking news in the celebrity world. The senior reporter will work in many content areas contributing ideas, reporting help and writing, with an eye towards traffic driving content. Important to have entertainment industry contacts as they may be charged with booking talent for specific projects.

Essential Job Functions

30% – Reporting and writing stories that will drive traffic, including celebrity interviews.

30% – Collaborating with the executive editor, various vertical editors and news director to determine where to invest time and resources on developing news stories and sourcing opportunities.

20% – Writing.

20% – Covering celebrity events, or other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism or communications, related field or equivalent training and/or experience.

Experience
Minimum 12 years experience.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent digital writing skills, a deep knowledge of the celebrity news landscape, an eye for a good story, ability to work well with many people across job functions, knowledge of analytics, SEO and audience engagement. Great celebrity contacts and the ability to make friends with anyone. Incredible interviewing abilities. Strong news instincts.

Travel
0 - 10% approximate travel required or as assigned.

Pay Range
Salary: New York: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00. Los Angeles: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00.

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of People Inc’s total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short‑ and long‑term incentives.
