Web Developer II
Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Web Developer II at its Detroit campus location.
Essential Functions
Works in a collaborative team-oriented environment to design, build, and maintain sophisticated database-driven Internet and Intranet applications.
Administers multiple production and development Web servers, installs software, manages middleware, troubleshoots complex configuration issues, and performs system diagnostics and maintenance activities.
Assists in the planning for acquisition, installation, and maintenance of new software, web servers, and middleware.
Writes web applications that retrieve and update information in relational web-centric databases.
Works with customers to analyze needs and define requirements.
Keeps up to date on Web technologies as they arise and evaluates them on an as-needed basis.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Experience collaborating throughout the entire project cycle, from research, strategy, information architecture, visual design, front-end development and maintenance.
Solid grasp of modern front-end Web development: HTML, CSS, JavaScript and their associated build tools.
Experience with back-end Web development environments including HTTP, Web servers, load balancers, interpretation layer, databases and associated Web frameworks.
Considerable skill in writing web applications that retrieve and update information in relational web-centric databases.
Ability to clearly communicate to project stakeholders, process feedback internally, and troubleshoot website layout and application performance issues.
Ability to provide direct supervision to internal Web site interns and guidance to unit Web site content authors.
Attention to detail and accuracy to meet deadlines.
Proficiency in the use of Web application programming languages, tools, and/or methodologies for developing integrated Web applications.
Demonstrated ability in analyzing customer requirements and developing basic information system solutions.
Strong understanding of Web technologies and related user device capabilities, including test-driven development.
