Description of Work
Nebraska Public Media’s Games Editor guides the creation, growth and success of the organization’s portfolio of daily and weekly games and puzzles. This role involves editing the work of others as well as creating original puzzles. The Games Editor writes and edits stories and narratives for longer games and content, using a customized Twine and Harlowe system to script interactions along with the narration. The Games Editor regularly evolves and refreshes the portfolio to better engage and grow the NPM user base, and to deliver community-building experiences that further our mission.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, emerging media arts, humanities, English, creative writing, or related field and one year of experience in writing, editing, or narrative design for games, particularly crossword puzzles or interactive fiction.

Additional years of relevant experience or completed relevant education may substitute for required education/experience on a year-for-year basis.

Proficiency in office productivity software (Microsoft Office, Discord, Zoom).

Familiarity with narrative scripting tools.

Strong design, oral and written communication skills.

Ability to deliver projects on time with organization skills and attention to detail.

Ability to multi-task, work independently but also follow direction.

Ability to objectively evaluate content and tactfully deliver critical feedback.

Preferred Qualifications

Three years of related experience.

Experience effectively communicating complex concepts from the humanities for a broad audience via interactive media.

Familiarity with Harlowe and Twine scripting.

Knowledge of game design principles as applied to traditional media platforms.

Physical & Background Requirements
Commercial Driver’s License:

Required. Subject to DOT approved pre-employment and random testing for alcohol and controlled substances.

Criminal History Background Check:

Required.
