Technical Writer (Contract-to-Hire) Remote (U.S. preferred) • Contract with potential for full-time conversion
BlueFlag is an early-stage cybersecurity startup focused on securing the modern software development ecosystem from developer identity and code to pipelines and AI tooling. Our platform gives organizations visibility and control over developer risk across the software supply chain.
We are a small, experienced team of AppSec and DevSecOps professionals building something ambitious. We are looking for a technical writer who can help us communicate our platform clearly and effectively to customers and partners.
The Role
We are looking for a Technical Writer to build BlueFlag's documentation program from the ground up. You will own the creation of customer-facing documentation for our platform, features, and integrations, including setup guides, API docs, and product walkthroughs. You will also support internal enablement materials for teams across Product, Engineering, and Customer Success.
This role begins as a contract position with the opportunity to transition into a full-time role as the company grows.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation for BlueFlag's platform and modules
Create content such as setup guides, integration docs, release notes, and feature explainers
Work closely with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Product Marketing to translate technical details into clear and useful documentation
Establish a scalable documentation structure and style guide that aligns with BlueFlag's brand voice
Manage documentation in Atlassian tools such as Confluence and Jira with a focus on reusability and version control
Contribute to internal enablement materials including onboarding guides and customer success documentation
Continuously improve content based on product changes and customer feedback
Requirements
3+ years of experience as a technical writer for SaaS or cybersecurity products
Good understanding of SDLC/DevOps tools or processes
Ability to work directly with engineers and product teams to gather and verify technical information
Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to simplify complex topics for a wide audience
Experience with Atlassian tools such as Confluence and Jira
Self-starter who enjoys building structure and processes in a startup environment
Bonus: Experience documenting APIs, SDKs, or integrations with tools such as GitHub, GitLab, or Jenkins
