Job Summary

CBS Newspath is seeking an Associate Producer with a strong commitment to journalism to coordinate news production and newsgathering operations for its overnight Desk team. The role manages the network's response to breaking news, responds to video and editorial requests from CBS broadcasts, owned stations, affiliates and clients, and assists in the transmission and distribution of live, edited video and correspondent packages.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate news production and newsgathering for overnight and weekend desks.

• Manage the network’s response to breaking news and video requests.

• Clip and publish Newspath video and scripts.

• Assist in the transmission and distribution of live video and edited packages.

• Gather elements needed for packages and vo/sots for major stories.

• Spot viral and pre‑trending content and adapt it for the brand.

• Ensure social‑friendly videos meet rights and clearance best practices.

Qualifications

  • 3 years local and/or network TV news experience or show producer experience preferred.
  • Strong editorial judgement and excellent writing skills.
  • Strong editing skills, Avid experience preferable.
  • Highly developed relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task and thrive in a dynamic, quickly‑changing environment.
  • Focus on multi‑media content required.
  • Understanding of TV newsgathering and transmission technology.
  • Knowledge of regional television markets and station relationships a plus.
  • Degree in broadcast journalism or related field preferred.

Additional Information

Hiring Salary Range: $66,300.00 - $67,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job‑related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.

The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
