Student Experience Communications Specialist

MathPath, an international residential summer program for 11‑14 year olds highly gifted in mathematics, seeks to fill the position of Student Experience Communications Specialist (SCS). The person in this position will work closely with the Camp Director and other Senior Staff of MathPath. Base Compensation for this position will be $6000 (USD), plus room, board, and reasonable travel expenses to/from the program session.

Most of the work for this position will be done during the program (June 24, 2026 – July 29, 2026) , during which time the Student Experience Communications Specialist must be living on‑campus along with the other staff and faculty. There will be some preparation work that will need to be done remotely requiring up to 30 total hours of work in the weeks before and after the program session.

Job Duties (primary)

Serve as primary initial point of parent contact leading up to and during the program

Monitor incoming phone calls and emails from parents during the program.

Work with the Camp Director and other relevant Senior Staff member(s) to agree on a system for timely responses to communication from parents, addressing issues directly or forwarding to other staff as appropriate.

Serve as the primary person contacting parents/guardians with updates regarding general daily student life & experiences.

Regarding individual situations as needed (such as for minor health concerns, etc.).

Manage the production of information to publish about the student experience at MathPath.

Send regular email updates (at least one per week) to all parents/guardians.

Update and maintain social media accounts for MathPath publicity including Blog, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat (at least twice per week).

Maintain Flickr photo stream.

Report on production of updates to the Executive Director.

Manage all on‑campus visits of off‑campus visitors.

Approve or deny all requests according to MathPath policies.

Communicate these visits to other Senior Staff members (including the Camp Director, Assistant Camp Director, and Student Life Director).

Ensure supervision of the visit is available according to MathPath policies.

Support the Camp Director, Assistant Camp Director, and Student Life Director in ensuring a positive student experience.

Generate ideas about communicating the experience via methods described above.

Support CD, ACD, and SLD in the creation & maintenance of a positive student experience.

Job Duties (of all Senior Staff)

Drive rental vans or cars, such as for weekend student trips and running errands.

Participate in on‑call rotation for urgent/emergent situations on‑campus.

Be familiar with the host institution and the on‑campus facilities used by MathPath, including any policies that may affect MathPath.

Be familiar with MathPath policies and practices.

Required Skills

Excellent interpersonal skills

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree

Driver’s license (valid in the United States) and good driving record

Eligibility to drive a rental car in the United States (age 25 or older)

Eligibility to work in the United States; one of the following:

US citizenship

Hold a US Resident Alien card

Possess or obtain at candidate’s expense a US work permit that does not expire until after the final date of employment (July 30, 2026)

Candidate must pass a background check before employment, including a driving record check

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or related field

Interest/passion for puzzles/mathematics
