About the Role
The Content Strategist is a crucial, client-facing role that is responsible for day‑to‑day client deliverables, creating and managing custom client strategies, and communicating both with clients and internal stakeholders. The strategist is responsible for more Enterprise clients and is expected to have a deep understanding of their service line and how it impacts other areas of business to create a holistic marketing strategy. Internally, this role is titled Account Strategist, Content & SEO.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Excellence and Best Practices:

Create custom strategies and implement best practices for clients, using project phase as a foundation and continually optimizing based on goals, campaigns, and performance.
Work with the Associate Director when roadblocks impact goal attainment.

Craft creative briefs and content campaigns driven by competitor and audience insights.

Apply best‑practice frameworks such as LTV:CAC modeling, Customer Generation, Share of SERP, and Content Production.

Goal Setting:

Use available data to set client goals and obtain approval from the Associate Director.
Data sources include Google Analytics, CRM data, SEMRush, and Ahrefs.

All goals must be approved by the Associate Director before presentation to the client.

Project Management:

Ensure the strategy is executed and tracked.
Use Asana to manage tasks.

Delegate to Specialists, clients, and partners, ensuring timely completion.

Partner with Project Managers when present to set task assignments, due dates, and communication.

Collaborate with writers and designers to complete campaigns on time and maintain quality standards.

Internal and External Communication:

Serve as the primary interface between clients and the team, building relationships beyond deliverables.
Communicate timeline expectations, progress, and updates between bi‑weekly meetings via shared channels such as Slack.

Communicate roadblocks, growth opportunities, and account changes to internal leadership.

Reporting:

Provide regular progress and impact updates to clients.
Bi‑weekly meetings focusing on NSM progress and deliverables.

Monthly reports.

Quarterly reports.

Two bi‑annual business review presentations.

What You’ll Bring

A proven record of SEO and content strategy success, including keyword research, on‑page optimization, and link building.

Analytical insight and the ability to analyze website traffic and SEO metrics with tools such as Google Analytics.

Strong communication skills and comfort in client‑facing relationships.

Familiarity with industry tools—Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMRush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, and other crawling tools.

Organizational, project, and time‑management skills.

Enthusiasm for digital marketing, SEO, and content.

Agency experience.

Experience with B2B tech and/or SaaS.

A drive to stay ahead of industry trends, including AI and automation enhancements.

CSAT > 4.2

Upsells / Cross‑sells / Referrals

Identify opportunities for clients to grow within Directive, such as expanding services or increasing budgets.

Ask for referrals during key moments, e.g., when a contact starts a new role.

Aim for a 5‑point CSAT score.
