This full-time, 4-month hybrid position (40 hours/week) has an on-site anchor day on Tuesdays.

Summary
Seeking a temporary Digital Media Manager to lead day-to-day social media and email communications while supporting the strategic integration of digital brands during an organizational merger. Working closely with the Communications Associate Director, the manager will oversee content creation and deployment across social media platforms and email channels, ensuring consistent messaging and engagement with the institute's diverse stakeholder audiences.

It offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital communications and brand management.

Social Media Management

Manage day-to-day requests, handling content planning, creation, and publishing across Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram.

Develop and execute social media campaigns to promote events, new programs, and special announcements.

Coordinate with social media campaign freelancers on special projects and weekly tasks.

Upload events videos to YouTube.

Monitor engagement metrics and compile quarterly data for performance reports.

Collaborate with researchers, faculty, and staff on social requests.

Maintain content calendars and ensure consistent posting schedules across all platforms.

Email Communications

Draft, design, test, and deploy 1‑4 email newsletters per week using email marketing platform Emma.

Assist in writing compelling copy and subject lines that engage diverse audiences including researchers, students, industry partners, and the general public.

Design email templates and graphics that align with brand guidelines.

Assign freelance copyeditor email review for consistency of tone and style.

Conduct A/B testing to optimize subject lines, content, and send times.

Manage email lists, segmentation, and compliance with university and legal standards.

Merger Integration

Support the unification of HAI and SDS social media accounts.

Consolidate and harmonize brand voice, visual identity, and messaging across merged platforms.

Assist in archiving, migrating, or consolidating accounts.

Update social and email templates, signatures, and branding to reflect the merged organization.

Track appropriate metrics to ensure merger activities are having a positive impact on audience.

Content

Create graphics, videos, and other multimedia content using design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar).

Coordinate with web team to ensure cross‑platform consistency.

Minimum Requirements

Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and at least three years of relevant digital media or communications experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated expertise managing institutional social media accounts across multiple platforms.

Proven experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Emma, or similar).

Strong copywriting and editing skills with ability to adapt tone for different audiences and platforms.

Proficiency with design tools for creating social media graphics and email templates.

Experience with social publishing and listening platforms like Brandwatch, Khoros, or Sprout Social.

Experience with analytics and ability to interpret data to inform strategy.

Excellent project management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to brand consistency.

Ability to work independently and take initiative while collaborating effectively with diverse teams.

Knowledge of accessibility best practices for digital content.

Familiarity with higher education, research, or technology sector communications preferred.

Physical Requirements

Constantly perform desk‑based computer tasks.
