Finishing Editor

The Finishing (Conform) Editor is responsible for conforming high-resolution picture elements based on client-provided metadata and reference media, ensuring accuracy and consistency in the final edit. This role includes VFX drop-ins, preparing color timelines, titling, rendering multiple versions, and mastering final picture, while providing editorial support to the Finishing Colorist and supervising client sessions for QC and VFX reviews. The Finishing Editor collaborates across editorial, color, VFX, and sound teams, requiring strong technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
The Finishing Editor works closely with the Head of Production and Producers to support project needs across the facility.
Main Duties:
Conform high-resolution picture elements using client-provided metadata and reference media.
Manage and organize projects from conform through final delivery, including exporting masters and creating archives.
Perform DaVinci Resolve conforms, VFX management and drop-ins, timeline maintenance, and color tracing.
Execute revisions on tight deadlines, implement QC fixes, and generate confidence check QuickTimes for client review.
Ensure accuracy and consistency with limited input from the creative editorial team.
Support the Finishing Colorist and collaborate across editorial, VFX, color, and sound departments.
Validate and prepare incoming media, troubleshoot technical issues, and maintain accurate versioning and project integrity throughout the finishing process.
Perform other related duties as required.
What You Bring:
Prior experience in post-production as a Finishing (Conform) Editor, with strong knowledge of dailies workflows and high-end finishing pipelines.
Advanced proficiency with industry-standard tools, such as DaVinci Resolve (primary), Avid Media Composer, and Adobe Premiere Pro.
Strong technical expertise, including troubleshooting systems, media, and workflows, with thorough knowledge of codecs, file formats, HDR workflows, and color science.
Excellent attention to detail and a strong eye for image quality, with a foundational understanding of color correction.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working directly with clients and collaborating across departments.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple concurrent projects, and remain adaptable, reliable, and composed under pressure.
Experience managing media, including organization, archiving, and coordination with Data I/O or similar teams.
Familiarity with MacOS, Linux and Windows operating systems.
Nice to Have:
Experience with titling, credits design, motion graphics, and basic VFX.
Familiarity with review and collaboration platforms such as Frame.io, PIX, Vimeo, and Flow Capture.
Strong leadership skills or experience guiding client sessions or mentoring junior team members.
Demonstrated initiative and a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
Working knowledge of Final Cut Pro and Autodesk Flame.
