Overview

A law firm is seeking a Business Development Manager to join its Marketing Department in New Jersey. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this role is responsible for driving strategic marketing and business development initiatives in support of practice group goals.

The Business Development Manager will work closely with attorneys and internal teams to enhance client development efforts, oversee pitch and proposal processes, and support the firm's positioning in the marketplace.

Responsibilities

Execute marketing and business development strategies aligned with practice group objectives; track and report on progress and outcomes

Conduct competitive intelligence and market research; prepare detailed reports on clients, prospects, and industry trends

Manage and maintain the firm's experience database and related marketing systems
Coordinate and develop RFP responses, pitches, proposals, and client presentations
Continuously improve pitch materials, processes, and overall efficiency across offices
Track and analyze proposal and RFP results to identify trends and areas for improvement
Develop and enhance marketing collateral to support firm and practice group positioning
Lead the preparation of submissions for legal rankings and directories, collaborating with external PR resources as needed
Partner directly with attorneys to support business development goals and provide high-level service
Proactively identify and implement new strategies to reach target audiences
Utilize CRM systems to manage contacts, track interactions, and support client outreach efforts
Travel between offices as needed to support business development initiatives
Requirements

Bachelor's degree required
Minimum of 5 years of marketing or business development experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Excellent organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
Experience with CRM and analytics tools preferred; familiarity with platforms such as experience management or analytics systems is a plus
Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data to inform strategy
