Communications Director - Housing Court The Director of Communication is responsible for managing and directing Housing Court's internal and external communications. This position develops and implements communication strategies and serves as the primary spokesperson and media contact for the Court. The Director contributes to fulfilling the Court's mission by ensuring timely, accurate, and effective dissemination of public information.
Examples of Duties
The following duties indicate the general nature and level of work performed. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list.
Serve as Housing Court's spokesperson and media liaison.
Monitor media coverage and respond to media inquiries.
Prepare, review, and edit press releases, articles, brochures, and other written materials, including the Court's newsletter.
Collect and analyze information for internal and external communications.
Manage the Court's social media platforms, website, and online presence.
Research and develop content for reports, presentations, videos, and public-access programming.
Maintain databases of public-information contacts.
Coordinate translation of materials into other languages as needed.
Assist Judges and staff with public speaking, presentations, and publications.
Organize and conduct Court tours.
Plan and coordinate community outreach events, including clinics and educational programs.
Collaborate with external organizations to promote understanding of Housing Court operations and housing laws.
Minimum Qualifications
The following qualifications and requirements are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in communications, media, public relations, or related field
Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
Experience managing social media and digital communications platforms
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications
Knowledge of office practices and communication strategies
Valid Ohio Driver's License, reliable vehicle, and insurance
Ability to lift or move items up to 50 lbs. occasionally
Additional consideration may be given to candidates with:
Experience in media, journalism, or broadcasting
Experience with design or production software
Experience coordinating community outreach initiatives
Knowledge of the City of Cleveland and its institutions

The Administrative Assistant – Judge Assignment serves at the pleasure of the Court and is an at-will employee. This position is not part of the classified civil service system and is not represented by a bargaining unit.
