Marketing Manager
California Institute of Applied Technology (CIAT) is seeking a strategic, organized, and people-focused Marketing Manager to join our growing marketing team. This role is critical in creating structure, accountability, and momentum across marketing initiatives while directly managing a team of marketing specialists and coordinators. The Marketing Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day marketing operations, ensuring projects move forward efficiently, and aligning team efforts with departmental and institutional goals. The ideal candidate is both a strong project manager and an effective people leader, someone who can prioritize competing initiatives, motivate a team, and actively coach and develop team members to grow their skills and careers.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead, manage, and support a growing marketing team across key functions including email, social media, SEO, paid advertising, content, and partnerships
Oversee the day-to-day workflow of the marketing team, ensuring projects, campaigns, and deliverables are completed on time and aligned with priorities
Develop and maintain project timelines, task management systems, and team accountability processes
Act as the primary point of coordination between marketing team members, the Director of Marketing, and other CIAT department leaders
Collaborate closely with the Creative Manager to align messaging, creative assets, and campaign execution across all channels
Oversee the execution of integrated marketing campaigns across digital, social, email, partnerships, and events
Monitor team bandwidth and proactively adjust priorities and resources to meet business needs
Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and professional development support to direct reports
Conduct regular 1:1 meetings, performance check-ins, and career development planning with team members
Foster a positive, motivated, and high-performing team culture focused on continuous improvement and accountability
Ensure consistency in brand voice, messaging, and execution across all marketing initiatives
Support the development and implementation of marketing processes, workflows, and best practices
Assist in intake, prioritization, and planning of internal marketing requests across departments
Track and report on campaign performance, team productivity, and key marketing metrics
Identify opportunities for optimization, efficiency, and innovation across marketing channels and operations
Collaborate cross-functionally with admissions, career services, academics, and leadership teams
Ensure all marketing activities adhere to CIAT's compliance requirements, including Federal, State, accreditation, and institutional policies
Partner with HR to coach and counsel employees as needed
Provide professional development and growth opportunities for employees
Manage and enforce timekeeping policies to ensure accuracy and timely processing of employee timecards
Conduct timely, accurate, and fair performance reviews, free from bias
Ensure a safe, secure, and ethical work environment
Follow communication guidelines to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and professionalism

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience in marketing, with at least 2-3 years managing multiple direct reports
Proven experience leading cross-functional marketing initiatives and managing multiple projects simultaneously
Strong leadership and team development skills, with a passion for coaching and mentoring others
Excellent organizational and project management skills with high attention to detail
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and drive actionable insights
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Experience with digital marketing channels including SEO, paid media, social media, and email marketing preferred
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and marketing/project management tools
Willingness to work outside of standard business hours when necessary to meet business needs and deadlines
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, academic departments, and administration to support student success, achieve institutional goals and contribute to a positive and inclusive culture
This position requires occasional travel to support in-person events and organizational initiatives
This position may involve event coordination responsibilities, including tasks that require physical activity such as setup, breakdown, and on-site support
Able to handle sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality
Possess high ethical standards, being an example of professionalism to others

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position manages multiple functional roles within the Marketing Department and is responsible for the performance, development, and day-to-day oversight of the marketing team.
Location:
This is a remote position. Work must be conducted in locations that have been approved by the company. Company authorization is necessary for relocation or work from other locations, even if temporarily.

Physical Demands:
Essential functions of this role require sitting for extended periods of time.
Ability to type, use a computer to search for information and input information while speaking on the phone is required.
The employee will often be required to use the computer, mouse, and telephone to conduct this role's regular tasks.
