We’re searching for a Senior Research Writer, someone who’s ready to be part of the best ranked children’s hospital in Texas, and among the best in the nation. In this position, you will provide writing, editing presentations, coordination and organizational skills to departments to reach external audiences to promote relevant research. The Senior Writer and Research Communicator will be integral to ensure compelling research stories from the hospital are sourced and featured on relevant research-related institutional webpages, blogs, social media platforms and local, regional and national media. The person will collaborate closely with research leaders to identify, strategize, generate and lead research promotions using lay friendly stories. You will also work closely with Philanthropy and marketing and public relations teams and other collaborating institutions to share and leverage content in multiple online and print platforms.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
To lead strategy development and implementation of a wide variety of research-related communications and fundraising strategies.
Identify, prioritize and lead the overall advancement strategies for research–related opportunities for fundraising using news releases, news articles, blogs and social media posts about research discoveries, prizes and grants, as well as institutional and external faculty honors.
Lead the writing, editing and publication timelines of research-related communications projects.
Identify, gain leadership buy-in and implement newer and more effective ways to promote research endeavors to external audiences.
Lead content sourcing, generation and manage the posting and content calendar for research-related Twitter channel and share with social media team for other channels, as appropriate.
Coordinate and work closely with Baylor’s communications and PR teams to ensure appropriate coverage of research news from both institutions.
Manage research-related content on key external-facing websites, in coordination with the digital marketing team.
Build relationships with key stakeholders, becoming the organization’s “go-to” contact for research news and latest developments.
Serve as a knowledgeable resource for the research community regarding effective communications.
Support faculty advancement programs and develop metrics/key performance indicators to measure success.
Skills & Requirements
Master's degree in journalism, Communications, English, Biology, Chemistry, Law or another science-related fields. Ph.D. Or In Journalism, Communications, English, Biology, Chemistry, Law or another science-related fields. Or Juris Doctor Degree (JD) required
5 years' experience in health care, technical or and biomedical research communications required
