Job Purpose

The Master Craftsman will inspect and repair all furniture in the most effective and efficient manner, emphasizing the restoration of color and finish on damaged or defective pieces. High skill in case goods and upholstered furniture repair is required.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Inspect and repair furniture completely and as quickly as possible.
Read all paperwork on each piece and follow instructions.
Maintain constant communication with management concerning lost paperwork, expensive repairs, incomplete repairs, manufacturer defects, supplies, loss of tools, and machinery issues.
Collaborate with other shop technicians to improve knowledge, efficiency, and quality of repairs.
Sign, scan, and forward completed repair paperwork to the new area.
Accept responsibility for your area and ensure housekeeping standards are met.
Follow all safety procedures and policies, including proper labeling of containers.
Secure supply areas at the end of each day and remove discarded materials for disposal.
Be willing to work in other buildings or homes, on and off campus.
Perform related duties as required and contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Suggest ideas for improvement.
Arrive punctually and consistently during scheduled hours.
Schedule may include occasional Saturdays and Sundays.

Working Conditions

This role operates in a professional shop environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, and smartphones. 5-10% travel may be required.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to push, pull, and maneuver equipment or furniture using a dolly, hand truck, or wheeled cart. Other equipment includes air brushes, burn-in oven, burn-in knives, screwdrivers, box cutters, shears, scratch awl, sander, spray gun, dollies, and wheeled carts.
Qualifications

Safety and Precautionary Requirements

Familiarity with location and usage of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Familiarity with and compliance with all safety rules.
Required Education and Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent and one year of material handling experience.
Preferred Education and Experience

Experience working in furniture.
Two or more years’ experience inspecting and repairing furniture.
