Opportunity Summary
This is a unique opportunity for a candidate to apply their existing knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards and power plant operations to a team of NERC Services consultants serving a broad range of clients’ needs – including independent power plants, utilities, and asset management firms. The position will combine the subject matter of NERC compliance with the opportunity to build client and project management skills, communication skills, and business development experience, along with leadership opportunities within the NAES NERC Services team.
What You'll Be Doing
In this position, you will work with our clients providing a comprehensive suite of services to support their NERC Reliability Compliance Program needs. In addition to working in the NAES corporate offices, this will involve travel to client sites to assist in the performance of:
NERC Compliance Assessments – review existing compliance documentation and provide guidance to complete templates that constitute the compliance program. Work with the client to provide recommendations for record-keeping, scheduling and adopting a strong culture of compliance.
Gap Analysis – evaluate compliance programs to identify deficiencies and recommend improvements.
Compliance Program Setups – assist the client in implementing their compliance program and preparing auditable compliance files.
Compliance Audit Assistance – develop Reliability Standard Audit Worksheets (RSAWs) and assist facility personnel in preparing for and participating in regional compliance audits.
Mock Audits – provide the client with an authentic audit experience to prepare them for the real thing
Audit Participation – facilitate an audit from evidence packages to data requests to auditor communications.
Training of Client Personnel – provide ongoing support, keeping compliance managers and plant personnel up-to-date with current NERC standards, revisions and interpretations.
What You'll Need
To be successful in this position, you must not only excel as a technical subject matter expert, but also possess attributes of an effective client and project manager.
You must have the ability to:
Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of safe and acceptable engineering practices and principles.
Analyze large amounts of technical data and structure such information for the purposes of clearly documenting and demonstrating compliance with all applicable NERC Reliability Compliance standards.
Develop and implement plans, schedules, procedures, tools and processes required to establish and maintain a comprehensive NERC Reliability Compliance Program for use by NAES-operated plants and outside customers. Formulate and communicate thoughts and ideas into practical operational guidance for plant personnel.
Plan, develop, and execute training programs designed to ensure compliance with NERC Reliability Compliance program requirements by plant personnel.
Communicate technical knowledge and practical compliance advice to a broad audience, including NAES corporate management and plant personnel and leadership.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
Available for business hours Monday through Friday. A hybrid or remote work schedule is negotiable. Travel up to 20% may be required to meet client requirements. Extended hours may be required during travel or due to variable workload and project-specific requirements.
Compensation
The initial salary range is $110,500 to $127,100 based on experience and qualifications.

An Associate degree in engineering or equivalent technical training knowledge and experience.
Power plant operations and maintenance experience with a work history that demonstrates a pattern of accomplishments.
Training in power generation systems and equipment, including operational theory and engineering safety.
Experience in the development of technical documents and training materials.
Excellent analytical skills.
Ability to communicate effectively in both formal and informal settings, including strong verbal and written communication skills with comparable skill in both technical and non-technical writing.
Ability to be client-focused, responsive, and conduct work in a professional demeanor.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software applications.
Valid driver's license.
