Role Description
This is a full‑time on‑site role based in the Detroit Metropolitan Area for a Managing Editor – Multiplatform News Strategy. The Managing Editor will oversee and guide the development of news stories and editorial projects across multiple platforms, ensuring timely, high‑quality content production. Responsibilities include managing newsroom workflows, assigning stories, balancing digital and broadcast strategies, and mentoring journalists to meet evolving audience needs. The individual will also coordinate collaboration across teams to create consistent and impactful news coverage that resonates with the Michigan Public audience.

Qualifications

Strong background in News Writing, Writing, and Journalism

Proficiency in Editorial processes and New Media platforms

Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage newsroom teams effectively

Strong organizational skills and ability to balance projects across multimedia platforms

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Experience in public radio, broadcasting, or a comparable editorial environment is a plus

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field
