Communications & Development Coordinator
Rainbow Days is a Dallas-based nonprofit whose mission is
to help children and youth in adversity build coping skills
and resilience to create positive futures.

Position Summary
The Communications & Development Coordinator supports fundraising and communications efforts,
managing donor strategy, communications, marketing, graphic design, public relations, and social media.
This role manages a small portfolio of donors, conducts prospect research, provides donor stewardship support,
fundraising event support, website management, and overall communications support.
The Coordinator works closely with the Director of Development & Communications, Resource Development team, CEO,
Board of Directors and external vendors to advance Rainbow Days development, communications and fundraising efforts.

Responsibilities
Communications

Coordinate design, development and production of all Rainbow Days’ print marketing materials, including fliers, brochures, direct mail appeals, the Annual Report, fact sheets and other materials.

Coordinate design and development of electronic communications, including monthly e-newsletter, various eCampaigns, invitations, save the date and other announcements.

Plan, create and oversee all social media messaging and posts in coordination with key staff and outside consultants.

Work with external Public Relations Consultant to write and edit press releases and send media advisories to pitch the organization to media outlets.

Coordinate design, development and production of fundraising and event campaign materials, including North Texas Giving Day, Holiday Campaign, Summer Camp Campaign and Back-to-School Campaign.

Assist with and grow Communications, Public Relations & Social Media Strategies.

Development

Manage a portfolio of donors and prospects focused on cultivation, stewardship, and annual giving.

Manage the Silent Auction for Rainbow Days annual luncheon, including soliciting in‑kind gifts, coordinating with Silent Auction chairs and committee, entering auction data into software, and distributing thank‑you letters.

Maintain and update Rainbow Days’ website with current news and events.

Assist with donor database entry and thank‑you correspondence as needed.

Collaborate with Administrative & Family Connection teams on various events and activities throughout the year.

Participate as a staff liaison on various committees as needed.

Make public appearances and speaking engagements to share information about Rainbow Days with the community.

Execute the annual Resource Development plan with the Director, CEO and Board of Directors.

Grow Luncheon Sponsorships and ensure a successful annual fundraising event, the Pot of Gold Luncheon.

Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.

Perform other related duties as requested.

Education & Training

Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or related field preferred.

Minimum of 3 years of experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment.

Demonstrated skills in design, communications, writing and editing.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information.

Knowledge of Windows‑based systems, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva and other design software.

Experience with email management systems (e.g., Constant Contact, Mailchimp) a plus.

Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) a plus.

Evaluation
Evaluated by Director of Development & Communications.

Hours
Full Time (40 hours per week).

Office Schedule
Regular Monday‑Friday, 9 am – 5 pm schedule that includes being in the office a minimum of 3 days per week and working remotely the remaining two days.

Travel
Local travel limited to the Dallas area, as needed for various events or meetings. The Director of Development will be reimbursed for local travel at the approved state rate.

Salary Range
$50,000 – $60,000.
