Musical – Instrumental Director

Purpose: To provide students and adults with the opportunity to develop their instrumental skills as part of the school musical production. The Instrumental Director will oversee all instrumental aspects, coordinate rehearsals, and collaborate with the stage director and other production staff to ensure a high-quality musical accompaniment.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and coordinate all instrumental components of the production.
Collaborate with the stage director regarding staging elements that affect instrumental performance, including dynamics and timing.
Schedule and lead all instrumental rehearsals in coordination with the stage director.
Attend auditions and provide input on instrumental casting and placement decisions.
Work closely with accompanists and pit musicians during rehearsals to ensure cohesion and musical accuracy.
Be present during early scene rehearsals to assist with instrumental direction.
Conduct full company rehearsals during the final two weeks prior to the production, focusing on instrumental coordination.
Direct instrumental performance during all shows.
Qualifications:
Strong background in instrumental music and musical theater accompaniment.
Experience working with instrumentalists in solo, ensemble, and pit orchestra settings.
Ability to collaborate effectively with directors and production staff.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Availability for after-school, evening, and weekend rehearsals and performances.
Prior experience coaching instrumentalists in a school or community theater setting preferred.
