Key Responsibilities
Provide continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients.
Verbally redirect patients from engaging in at‑risk behaviors.
Summon nursing staff if patient requires assistance using communication devices or STAT alert alarms.
Maintain visual observation at all times.
Use the Video Monitoring (VM) software proficiently.
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with hospital policies.
Provide patient explanations as needed, without giving opinions or counseling.
Participate in hand‑off of pertinent information during shift changes.
Seek help or advice promptly if a patient poses a threat.
Collaborate in identifying and reporting patient safety issues.
Assist in removing safety hazards from patient rooms and report findings to RN.
Practice safe work procedures and participate in safety programs.
Maintain focus on observing patients with no distractions; never leave monitor station unattended.
Follow documentation requirements and keep workplace clean.
Adhere to restrictions on food, drink, and cell phone use in patient care areas.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Effective verbal, electronic, and written communication skills in English.
Computer proficiency; Microsoft Office experience preferred.
Ability to work variable shift schedule including evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and travel.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills working with diverse populations.
Self‑directed, proactive, and team‑oriented with strong problem‑solving abilities.
High level of service delivery, detail orientation, and prioritization skills.
