Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree. Working experience in a collegiate communications department in either a full-time, graduate assistant or postgrad intern role.

Position Summary

Coordinate and supervise information that satisfies media requirements and creates interest in the University of Georgia athletics program within assigned sport(s). Make consistent efforts to present information to the news media and groups, including alumni, lettermen, faculty, students, and fans, in a positive manner with honesty and integrity. Establish and maintain relationships with local and national media in promoting UGA athletics while demonstrating an innovative approach with a strategic mindset. Advise and train coaches and student-athletes for media interviews. Collaborate with the UGA creative team on content strategy and ideas.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Experience with all social media platforms, InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, web design, editing, and design of game notes and media guides is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, providing superior customer service. Solid administrative and computer skills.
A working knowledge of NCAA and SEC rules and regulations.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals, customers, and the general public.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only a limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to work nontraditional hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
Ability to travel.

Occasionally sit and talk or hear.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
Close and distance vision, and peripheral vision.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but escalates to high during practice and athletic competitions.

Develop and execute an innovative, strategic media plan for assigned sports. Develop strategies that will broaden visibility and reach while enhancing the UGA brand. Coordinate production of media guides, game notes, preseason outlooks, postseason media guides, media releases, and statistics for assigned sports. Organize or oversee releases and event coverage for assigned sports.
