Job Summary
This position reports to the VP – Financial Operations and supports HealthTrust’s Shared Services senior leadership. It oversees the financial management of the Clinical Education organization and the financial reporting operations of the HealthTrust Support Services organization. This position is incentive eligible.
Responsibilities
Strategically lead the financial operations of HCA’s Clinical Education organization, including both Corporate functions and field-based shared services organization
Direct all financial reporting activities for HealthTrust Shared Services (including Supply Chain, Clinical Education, EVS, FANS, Facility Management, and Equipment Management)
Guarantee accurate and timely preparation, processing, distribution, and retention of all financial reports and records
Provide financial insight and input to shared services strategic initiatives
Direct the preparation of short- and long-range budgets, strategic plans, and monthly financial/operational reporting
Direct staff in all financial reporting and accounting responsibilities according to company policy
Prepare detailed monthly budget variance reports to management in the review of operational performance and cost allocations
Continue to enhance business intelligence by utilizing new enterprise tools for creating reporting and analytics that meet customer needs
Monitor and maintain key operational performance measures
Work with appropriate leadership teams to understand, develop, and communicate operational and expense data requests/reports
Interpret and present data for decision‑making needs
Recommend areas of improvement and assist in driving results
Provide cost analytics for operations and third‑party engagement‑specific profitability reviews
Complete and/or review financial justifications for operational business cases
Coordinate all ad‑hoc financial, operational, and data mining reporting requests
Understand methodologies for performing financial and opportunity analysis of proposals
Provide assistance to all management staff related to the performance of financial management matters
Interact daily with both internal and external individuals as a first line responder to customer requests for custom reports, report enhancements, or data interpretation. A willingness to become a subject matter expert in interpreting support services initiative performance measures is a must
Be responsible for financial and compliance audit coordination including performance of balance sheet reviews
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Accounting degree
10–12 years’ experience in financial reporting, financial operations, and/or supply chain financial management
CPA License required
Accounting experience for supply chain operations, complex contracts, and revenue recognition
Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills required
Excellent interpersonal skills
Team leadership experience
Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Experience with data mining and business intelligence software (Business Objects and MicroStrategy preferred)
Prior management experience
Organizational skills required
Project management experience
Understanding of the IT environment
