The Lead OSP Engineer plays a key role in
designing, optimizing, and expanding fiber network infrastructure
in partnership with internal teams and external vendors. This position is responsible for driving
technical execution, design validation, and operational excellence
across complex fiber projects.
You will work on
large-scale network initiatives , providing guidance on routing strategy, construction feasibility, and system performance while helping to improve processes and ensure high-quality delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Network Design & Optimization
Design and plan
conduit and fiber routes
supporting services such as Dark Fiber, Ethernet, SD-WAN, WDM, DIA, and FTTx.
Develop routing solutions that meet
customer-specific requirements for performance, diversity, and scalability.
Research and interpret
jurisdictional requirements , including construction in public/private easements and rights-of-way (ROW).
Analyze network data and records to support
design decisions and fiber optimization strategies.
Define fiber paths, including
splicing requirements
for installations, relocations, and restorations.
Review and approve
construction drawings, splice plans, BOMs, and route analyses , particularly for complex builds.
Conduct field validation of proposed routes, identify risks, and recommend
alternative solutions when needed.
Data & Systems Management
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records across
internal planning and tracking systems.
Monitor key performance metrics related to
timelines, quality, and resource utilization.
Ensure
inventory accuracy
and consistency across all systems and tools.
Collaborate with
internal teams, vendors, and customers
to ensure alignment and execution.
Provide regular updates on
project progress, risks, and forecasts.
Support communication across stakeholders to maintain
project momentum and transparency.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in
telecom fiber networks , ideally within OSP construction or fiber design.
Strong understanding of
fiber construction practices and network design principles.
Experience reviewing
CAD drawings
for submission to municipalities and regulatory bodies.
Proficiency with
GIS-based systems, Google Earth, and KMZ file management.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work across
cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to
mentor and support junior engineers.
Proficiency in
MS Office (including Visio).
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
Experience with
AutoCAD and Salesforce.
Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and manage
multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
