OVERVIEW
We are hiring an Art Director, Social & Digital to help bring Summer Fridays’ social-first creative vision to life across digital platforms and brand touchpoints. This role will lead the development of visually compelling, brand-right content designed to engage audiences, support campaign objectives, and elevate product storytelling across social and digital channels.

In close partnership with Brand Marketing, Social, and Digital teams, this role will drive the art direction for photo and video content across social platforms — from concept development through production and post-production. The Art Director will help shape cohesive visual storytelling across campaigns, launches, and key brand moments while ensuring all creative assets align with brand standards and platform best practices.

This role is ideal for a highly creative and collaborative thinker who is passionate about beauty, digital culture, and emerging content trends, with a strong eye for design, storytelling, and audience engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Define and evolve the visual identity of the Summer Fridays brand across social and digital channels, ensuring consistency, intentionality, and a distinct point of view

Partner closely with the Creative Department Art Directors to translate the overarching campaign vision into a compelling, social-first visual world

Lead the concepting and execution of social-first creative ideas, campaigns, and content that feel native, elevated, and engaging

Translate brand guidelines into modern, platform-specific visual storytelling across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and emerging channels

Art direct photography, video, motion, and design—ensuring a cohesive and recognizable aesthetic across social platforms and digital touchpoints

Manage and provide creative direction to internal graphic designers, ensuring high-quality execution, consistency across brand touchpoints, and alignment with campaign objectives

Partner closely with brand, social, digital, and product marketing teams to align creative output with broader business goals

Stay informed on platform trends, audience behaviors, and emerging digital content formats to identify relevant creative opportunities

Continuously explore new formats, tools, and creative approaches to support innovative and engaging brand storytelling

Prepare and present art direction concepts for founders, leadership reviews, social launches, evergreen campaigns, and brand events

Lead the development of comprehensive shot lists that thoughtfully integrate social, digital, and paid media requirements while maximizing production efficiency and creative output

Ensure all creative assets are optimized to platform specifications, user behavior, and best practices across organic and paid channels

Choose final social imagery/selects for campaign photoshoots and lead retouching and postproduction

Ensure that the social creative department is working closely with all cross-functional teams, gather content requests, provide clear timelines, and deliver all content to spec and on time

Partner closely with our digital and retail marketing teams to ensure cohesive storytelling and creative consistency across paid media, Newsletter, and retail partners’ assets

Draft, negotiate, and execute contracts for all content vendors, ensuring deliverables are to spec and within budget

Own and maintain monthly social photography and video budgets and help to update the budget tracker. Ensure we are executing all proposed projects and staying on budget

Use social and paid media performance insights to inform creative direction, optimize content approaches, and iterate on high-performing concepts

Manage and organize content asset library; ensure all assets are retouched to spec and clearly labeled for cross-functional team members

Responsible for real-time and in-person social support and community engagement during brand events — including but not limited to pop-ups, influencer events, etc.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, or related field — or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

5+ years of experience in creative, content management, or related field

Strong understanding of platform best practices, content trends, and audience behavior across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and emerging social channels

Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills

Reliable, efficient, and thoughtful when working with cross-functional teams

Proficient in Figma, Excel, SharePoint, and AI Platforms (including Chat GPT and Gemini)

Knowledge of design software (Adobe Creative Suite) and experience managing photo shoots and video production

Experience managing and developing internal creative team members preferred

Knowledge of current industry trends and best practices in beauty, fashion, and lifestyle

Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with cross-functional and executive stakeholder engagement (including company Founders)

Experience with Dash Hudson or previous social data tracking platforms

Proactive, collaborative, and solutions-oriented approach to creative problem-solving

Highly organized, detail-oriented, problem solver with the ability to balance multiple creative priorities in a deadline-driven environment

Limited travel may be required to support photoshoots, events, campaign activations, and other key brand initiatives as needed

Must be based in Los Angeles, CA and willing to work a hybrid schedule

COMPENSATION
Base Salary: up to $125,00
