Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and personable Ag Content Specialist to join our team. This role is an entry-level position (1-3 years of experience) designed for a college graduate or someone a few years out of college who possesses strong agricultural knowledge and a basic understanding of markets. The workload is primarily focused on research and writing dedicated to supporting market content and insights for Trader PhD subscribers and prospects.
Key Responsibilities
Content Development: Write high-quality, engaging articles, blogs, newsletters, and marketing materials on various agricultural topics.
Market Intelligence: Translate complex market data into digestible insights specifically for farmers and stakeholders.
Social Media Support: Post articles to Facebook and LinkedIn and support the team with social engagement as needed.
Research: Monitor agricultural trends, best practices, and industry news to ensure content is accurate and timely.
Multimedia: Assist with basic graphic design and video work to complement written content.
Conduct audio and video presentations as opportunities exist to promote the company.
Contribute to publications, recorded services, and other promotions as needed to build business.
Brand Authority: Maintain a consistent brand voice to ensure Trader PhD is viewed as a trusted authority in market intelligence.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience: 1-3 years in agricultural communications, journalism, or marketing.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business, Economics, or a related field.
Knowledge Level: Required knowledge ranges from basic to adept. While multiple years of trading experience are not required, you must understand agriculture (specifically grains and livestock) and the markets.
Portfolio: Required portfolio of published work or writing samples demonstrating an ability to write for an Ag audience.
Technical Skills: Strong writing, editing, and research skills.
Preferred: Existing network or connections within the Iowa agricultural community.
Working Conditions
Environment: Office-based role in West Des Moines.
Hours: Standard business hours with occasional flexibility.
Travel: No immediate requirement for trade show attendance, though we may discuss future interest during the interview process.
