Description
Purpose of the Position
Oversees daily processing operations demonstrating commitment to employee safety, product quality, and teamwork.
Essential Position Responsibilities
Manages plant staffing, guides department supervisors and their direct reports, estimates appropriate staff level to meet business and budgetary goals, schedules direct reports, directs training to increase efficiency and reduce downtime, acquaints workers with company policies and procedures.
Determines job priorities, commits to superior quality products, achieves customer satisfaction through efficient operations, reviews job orders for continuous product supply, analyzes production and quality control reports for planning and modifying activities, implements new methods and procedures to improve operations, minimize costs, and increase labor/material utilization.
Maintains costing efficiency through efficient production, allocates resources in line with cost structure, compares production goals to actual runs, handles paperwork and record keeping, reduces waste, manages office supplies within budget.
Ensures safety records align with company goals, verifies compliance with policies, OSHA regulations, and customer specifications, motivates employees to maintain high safety and yield records.
Maintains audit/tour ready facility compliance with FDA/USDA regulations and customer specifications, interacts with cross‑department teams and external agencies.
Communicates at all levels to meet production expectations, monitors quality, safety, scheduling, personnel and mechanical status, collaborates with HR, Safety, Maintenance, QA, Finance, Shipping.
Manages employees—directs work activities, monitors performance, collaborates with HR for hiring, disciplinary actions, compensation decisions, fosters a cooperative environment, promotes morale and productivity.
Participates in team development, communication, and implementation of team policies, coordinates work to ensure best practices, attends meetings, addresses cohesiveness issues.
Familiar with company operating systems (quality, security, office environment, LEAN) and communicates concerns and improvement ideas.
Performs other duties as necessary to support business objectives.
Physical Activities, PPE, and Travel
Enters and locates information on a computer, verifies data, communicates via phone, in person, or email, presents information, works in various temperatures, moves around manufacturing environment, may travel via car or plane to other locations.
Uses PPE as required by the facility. Minimum local travel to other work sites.
Technical Experience
2 years of experience supervising or leading employees in manufacturing or related fields.
Industry Experience
Food processing organization.
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field or 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
