Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church (PHUMC) in Bessemer, AL is looking for gifted, passionate candidates who will assist us in growing our music ministries and move toward our goal of becoming a church reflective of our multicultural community.
Expectations for the candidates include:
- Playing piano/organ/other instruments for our 8:30a and 10:30a worship services.
- Additional worship services as needed (Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Funerals if available, etc.).
- Directing our choir and praise team through practice and during 10:30 worship.
- Working with the praise team for 10:30 worship.
- Choosing congregational songs/hymns for worship services that help people experience Jesus and support the theme of the service.
- Maintaining communication with choir, praise team, AV team, and Sr. Pastor.
- Creating worship slides for 10:30 worship with song lyrics.
- Discovering new ways to engage with the surrounding community.
Requirements for candidates include:
- Punctuality
- Active communication
- Proficient at piano and other instruments as possible.
- Capable of organizing, teaching/directing, and presenting choral, congregational, and praise team musical selections.
- Presence on campus for practice and Sunday mornings as well as any leadership meetings for worship planning or church council (typically no more than 10 hours per week).
- Infectious passion for worship leadership.
- Healthy spiritual practices.
Compensation: $15,000/year
