Lead Technical Writer

Requirements

Professional Writing & AI Awareness: 8+ years documenting APIs/SDKs for developer audiences; deep understanding of how AI agents and LLMs consume documentation

Technical Proficiency & AI Tooling: Solid understanding of at least one programming language; ability to read code accurately; experience using AI tools (such as Claude Code or Cursor) to streamline content creation and maintenance

Strategic AI Content Architecture: Proven ability to manage broad content strategies while structuring content specifically for AI ingestion, such as markdown optimization or implementing standards that help LLMs and Agents better understand our content

Leadership & Innovative Problem Solving: Track record of leading complex projects and proposing AI-driven solutions to address documentation and customer experience gaps

A related technical degree required

(Desirable) Experience with object-oriented programming (e.g., Apex or Java) and hands‑on coding

(Desirable) Proficiency with source control software (Git, Perforce) and IDEs like VS Code

(Desirable) An innovative mindset with a history of process improvements

(Desirable) Strong XML and Markdown skills

(Desirable) Bonus: Experience with testing and evaluation frameworks to review documentation for AI consumers

As a Lead Developer Documentation Writer, you will be recognized as an influential Content Experience (CX) expert

You’ll understand the technical landscape of our cloud in detail and set the content strategy for broad areas, ensuring our developers have the right resources at the right time

You will work in a fast-paced, Agile environment, improving existing documentation and reference content while ensuring quality and consistency

You’ll collaborate with a team of developer‑doc writers and explore new ways to deliver solutions to customers building apps or complex customizations on the Salesforce Platform

Driving Strategy: Develop content strategy for broad cloud areas and align it with stakeholders in Support, Product Management, and Marketing to meet our business goals

Empowering the Team: Use your industry-wide experience to serve as a mentor and multiplier for other writers; coordinate work across teams and share constructive feedback to elevate our collective impact

Influencing Product: Contribute directly to product strategy as we evolve the AI experience. Create clear plans for in-product guidance and reference content

Demonstrating Technical Expertise: Grasp the details of our component frameworks, security, and tooling to support developers building on the Salesforce Platform

Championing Innovation: Actively share ideas to improve the customer experience and handle diverse viewpoints with professional maturity
