Central California Asthma Collaborative (CCAC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing health equity and environmental justice by empowering Central Californiacommunities through services, research, advocacy, and data-driven solutions to reduce the burden of asthma. CCAC has 50+ full-time employees and six offices in Central California communities from Bakersfield to Sacramento .

JOB SUMMARY
The Marketing and Communications Associate supports CCAC’s marketing and outreach efforts by creating compelling content across social media, video, print materials, and web platforms. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys storytelling through visuals and digital media, understands how to create community-centered communications, and is passionate about environmental health and nonprofit impact.

The ideal candidate is a strong content creator who can produce social media graphics, short-form video, flyers, and other collateral, while also helping maintain website content and support campaign visibility. This position works closely with the Marketing Communications Manager and plays an important role in helping CCAC connect with the community in meaningful and accessible ways.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Content Creation and Management:

Support communications that reflect CCAC’s values of health equity, community engagement, and environmental awareness

Help create outreach materials that are culturally responsive and accessible to diverse audiences

Contribute creative ideas for campaigns, storytelling, and public awareness efforts

Social Media Content Creation:

Create engaging content for CCAC’s social media platforms, including graphics, captions, reels, short videos, and campaign assets

Assist with planning, scheduling, and publishing content across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other channels as needed

Help maintain a consistent brand voice and visual identity across digital platforms

Support development of content calendars and campaign concepts

Engage with our online community by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries in a thoughtful and timely manner.

Video Content & Digital Storytelling:

Create and edit short-form video content for social media, events, campaigns, and outreach initiatives

Capture photo and video content at community events, meetings, workshops, and organizational activities as needed

Edit interviews, event highlights, testimonials, and promotional videos
Add captions, branding, and basic motion graphics where appropriate

Graphic Design & Collateral Development:

Design flyers, posters, outreach materials, presentations, social media graphics, and other print/digital collateral

Use Canva and Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator and Photoshop, to create polished, audience-friendly materials

Prepare files for both print and digital distribution

Ensure content is visually appealing, clear, accessible, and aligned with CCAC branding

Website Support:

Assist with updating website content, event pages, blog posts, graphics, and resource materials

Make basic website edits and content updates in WordPress or coordinate updates as needed

Administrative & Team Support:

Organize digital files, design templates, photos, and video assets

Track content deliverables, deadlines, and project updates

Support additional communications and outreach efforts as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, or related field required

1+ years of experience in marketing or communications, preferably in a non-profit, public health or community-focused organization

Experience creating content for social media platforms

Experience creating and editing short-form video content

Demonstrated experience with basic graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe CC: Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign

Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills .

English and Spanish fluency preferred

Ability to work independently, cooperatively and responsibly in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, to respond to community and CCAC needs

Demonstrated commitment to community education, environmental and social justice

Demonstrated attention to detail, organization, reliability, flexibility and professionalism.

Demonstrated ability to be culturally competent in all respects

TRAVEL
Periodic travel in state (mostly in Central CA region in CCAC service territory and between our 6 offices ) to meet with community partners, staff media events, join stakeholders and various conferences or trainings as needed; approximately 5% of the time.

DRIVING AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid CADL and applicable CA mandated auto insurance

AUTHORITY AND SUPERVISORY CAPACITY
May supervise staff, volunteers and/or interns if the Marketing and Communications team grows.
