Job Summary/Description
The Technical Media Producer is responsible for directing live or pre‑recorded productions, monitoring station on‑air signals, transmitter, and FCC logs, and ingesting daily programming and commercials. Assignments include directing newscasts, station productions, and web channel elements. Consistent tardiness is not tolerated; reliable transportation is required, especially in inclement weather.

Duties/Responsibilities

Operate Ross Overdrive automation, Ross production video switcher, MCR/Harris automation, Platinum House routing system, VizRT graphics, Adobe Photoshop.

Operate supporting equipment in Production/Master Control, including robotic camera, prompter, audio, and in‑house web production.

Direct live and pre‑recorded productions for WHSV.

Understand FCC broadcast regulations.

Occasionally operate Edius editing software.

Use ENPS newsroom computer system.

Understand all equipment in studios and production areas.

Dedicate to equipment care.

Collaborate with other departments to meet daily demands.

Train new personnel as assigned.

Assist in maintaining clean studios and production areas.

Adapt to variable work schedule due to changing shifts, turnover, station projects, etc.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

Experience with live content, Ross switchers, and Overdrive preferred.

Ability to learn or possess knowledge of editing using professional editing software such as Adobe Premiere.

Excellent communication skills; constant communication with other TMPs, producers, editors, and stations required.

Creativity and passion.

Physical Requirements

Sitting or standing for long periods.

Good or corrected hearing and vision.

Good English speaking skills, speak clearly.

Ability to carry moderately heavy equipment (cameras, tripods, monitors > 50 lbs.).

Possibility of working in extreme weather conditions, high noise or unusual light levels.

Ability to work on studio lighting fixtures on a ladder > 10 ft.

Miscellaneous

Work schedule varies due to production/operation demands or permanent schedule changes.

Work assignments may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Regular and reasonable work attendance required. Consistent tardiness not tolerated.

Education

Required: Degree related to Film/TV/Digital Media or communication studies.

Preferred: Demonstrated live production experience.
