Title: Freelance Commerce Writer - ShopHQ

Employment Type: Freelance - Temporary/Part-time: 25-35 hrs per week. Assignment length is 6 weeks to start, with the option to extend based on performance.

Location: Remote, USA

The Arena Group is seeking a Freelance Commerce Writer to contribute to our daily commerce content supporting ShopHQ across our portfolio of brands, including Parade, Men’s Journal, Athlon Sports, Autoblog and more. The ideal candidate will have experience in creating commerce content for a range of lifestyle topics, including home and garden, consumer electronics, men’s and women’s style, sporting goods, pets and more. Responsibilities will include pitching daily stories to the commerce editors, writing new stories and updating and optimizing evergreen content. The ideal candidate has experience writing commerce content in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, specifically around product reviews, product launches and seasonal and category-themed roundups and listicles.

This is a freelance position with competitive hourly rates commensurate with experience. Our expected hourly pay rate is $25 - $35 per hour.

What You’ll Do

Pitch stories to the commerce editorial team

Write 8-10 commerce stories a week with the ability to pivot quickly if a more pressing priority arises

Monitor daily news/deals cycle and flag commerce opportunities that align with ShopHQ product assortment

What You’ll Bring

Experience writing high-quality commerce content that delivers service and value to readers

Extensive experience creating commerce content with a track record of driving revenue and audience engagement

Ability to craft compelling and authoritative content around products without hands-on testing

Knowledge of digital content best practices, like SEO, AP Style, and analytics

Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills

Collaborative and team-oriented

Ability to write fast, without compromising accuracy, brand integrity, or voice

A sense of fun, urgency, and a can-do attitude

Bachelor’s degree in journalism/related field or a portfolio of published work
