Job Description
Cambridge Public Schools is seeking a pool of skilled and experienced, part‑time, “as needed” technical theater professionals to support the running of the new and recently renovated school theaters in the city. The selected Technical Specialist will be responsible for attending to the year‑round rental needs and uses of the CPS recently renovated and newly built school theaters.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all technical aspects of the theater while in use by CPS, the City of Cambridge and outside renters.
Ensure proper use and care of CPS equipment and the facility by preparing the space for the arrival of the user.
Assist with the operation of theatrical lighting and sound.
Advise staging and possible stagecraft development.
Be familiar with the Eos family of lighting control, the Soundcraft Digital series of sound control, basic microphone and speaker placement and use, and have good working knowledge of computers (PC/Mac) and projectors.
Act as a representative of CPS and maintain excellent communication and customer‑service skills, working with young learners and community members.
Minimum requirements:
Experience and strong knowledge of technical theater.
Knowledge of technical theater boards, panels and equipment.
Customer service experience.
Compensation and benefits are based on collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. Non‑exempt employees working more than 40 hours per week will be paid time and a half for overtime.
