Job Summary:
Develop and draft complex communication content, and support the communication strategy through storytelling and campaigns for university-wide projects and efforts.
Responsibilities
Lead story writing and manage editorial projects from concept to completion, including the biannual journal Futurecast.
Research, plan, develop, and write editorial and marketing material for diverse audiences.
Support content development across GFL’s social media channels, managing the editorial calendar and shaping timely, audience‑aware content.
Contribute to strategic communications planning through brainstorming, editorial syncs, and integrated marketing discussions.
Conduct background research and interview faculty, students, project leads, and stakeholders to gather information.
Edit and proofread content for clarity, accuracy, and ASU style.
Stay informed on ASU news and external news related to Global Futures focus areas, as well as trends and best practices in communications and marketing, especially social media.
Collaborate with university partners on materials that amplify the work, mission, and vision of the Global Futures Laboratory, including Media Relations, Brand Team, Events, and more.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience appropriate to the assignment; or equivalent experience and training.
Desired Qualifications:
Proven written and oral communication skills, including AP style knowledge; ethical journalism, public relations, communication, and marketing best practices; meticulous editing and proofreading skills; experience interviewing experts; ability to convey complex information clearly to lay audiences; independent project management in fast‑paced environments; strong team collaboration and relationship building; understanding of design and creative communication; leadership and team‑building skills; curiosity; experience with project‑management software; comfortable using digital writing applications; photography skills are a plus.
Working Environment
Open‑office setting with offices, laboratories, classrooms, and event spaces. Team members are expected to work in‑person weekdays, with optional flexible schedules.
