Position Summary
The Photographer & Videographer is responsible for producing high-quality, professional photography and visual media that supports Kilgore College’s marketing, communications, recruitment, and institutional initiatives. The role requires a highly skilled and experienced photographer with a demonstrated ability to execute on-location, studio, portrait, and sports photography at a professional level. This position works closely with students, faculty, staff, and external partners to visually tell the story of the college through compelling imagery and creative content. It also assists with videography, video editing, and limited graphic design projects as needed. Evening and weekend work is required.
Position Responsibilities
Capture professional-grade photography for marketing, athletics, events, academics, and institutional use
Execute on-location photography including campus events, athletics, ceremonies, and community outreach
Conduct studio photography sessions including portraits, headshots, and promotional imagery
Produce high-quality sports photography, including fast-action coverage in live game environments
Quickly edit, retouch, and deliver publication-ready images using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, Bridge)
Maintain and organize a comprehensive digital asset library with proper file management and metadata
Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing team to develop and execute visual storytelling strategies
Ensure brand consistency and professional standards across all visual content
Assist with videography projects including filming, editing, and post-production
Produce video content for social media, web, and promotional campaigns
Provide limited graphic design support for digital and print materials
Coordinate and schedule photography sessions across multiple departments
Work effectively and professionally with students, faculty, staff, and external clients during shoots
Maintain and manage photography equipment, lighting, and studio resources
Stay current with industry trends, techniques, and emerging technologies
Supervise and mentor 2–3 scholarship student interns each semester, including assigning projects, providing training, reviewing work, and ensuring professional standards are met
Coordinate intern schedules and workflow to support departmental needs and project timelines
Meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Work evenings and weekends as required to support college events
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Position Requirements
Associate degree in Photography, Digital Media, Graphic Design, or a related field required
Professional portfolio demonstrating high-level competency in on-location, studio, portrait, and sports photography
Minimum of two years of professional photography experience preferred
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and Lightroom required; additionally, Premiere Pro and Illustrator preferred)
Demonstrated experience with professional camera systems, lenses, lighting equipment, and studio setups
Proven ability to consistently produce sharp, properly exposed, and compositionally strong images in a variety of environments
Experience shooting in fast-paced, unpredictable environments such as live events or athletics
Working knowledge of videography and video editing
Basic graphic design skills
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing polished, publication-ready work
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Ability to effectively train, supervise, and mentor student interns in a professional setting
Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
Must be able to work in a typical office and on-location environment, including advanced computer skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office and classroom environment.
No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

Compensation for this 12-month position is $45,660.
Location
All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX. No work-from-home positions are available at this time. All employees must be physically present at the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX campus. Some Part-Time and Adjunct positions may be offsite but the candidate must live in Texas.
