Overview
Job Title: Communications Manager, WBUR. The Marketing & Communications team elevates WBUR’s brand reputation and strategically drives audience growth. By ensuring brand consistency and implementing industry best practices, we lead the creative development of new product launches and execute integrated, multi-platform campaigns. Our work strengthens WBUR’s position as a trusted institution, serving Greater Boston and a national audience with excellence and impact. Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, you will work closely with the Creative Project Manager, Marketing Operations Manager and Graphic Designer to turn strategy into clear, compelling storytelling across owned, earned, and paid channels.
You will write with pep and personality, helping audiences understand not just what we do, but why it matters. Your work—from brand ads and product launches to PR and social—will keep the WBUR voice cohesive and unmistakable. This role blends craft with initiative. You’ll produce strong writing and bold concepts, managing projects from brief to delivery. We are looking for a thinker and a doer: a creative self-starter who finishes work, collaborates well, and brings fresh ideas with excellent judgment.
Responsibilities
Turn strategy into clear, compelling storytelling across owned, earned, and paid channels.
Produce strong writing and bold concepts; manage projects from brief to delivery.
Collaborate with Marketing & Communications and cross-functional teams on brand development, product launches, PR, and social campaigns.
Ensure brand consistency and apply industry best practices across multi-platform campaigns.
Contribute creative development for new initiatives and campaigns that strengthen WBUR’s brand and audience engagement.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, advertising, PR, journalism or a related field; 5–8+ years’ experience in media, marketing, agency advertising, PR or similar roles.
Agency experience and portfolio of campaign work strongly encouraged.
Creative thinker with strong conceptual and storytelling skills; portfolio showcasing a range of creative writing projects and campaigns.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Enthusiasm for handling tasks of any scale; a self-starter from big-picture ideas to detailed executions.
Familiarity with social media and CRM tools, such as Sprinklr and Salesforce, a plus.
