Title I – Grant
Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Job Summary
Provides instruction in the curricular areas of reading and math to students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and implement programming for early childhood and primary reading and math curricular areas in a classroom setting.

Support and implement the district curriculum, standards, and benchmarks.

Assist school staff with strategies to support and meet students' needs and academic goals.

Communicate actively and build positive relationships with parents and community members.

Assist in planning and delivery of social, emotional, and behavioral school‑wide programming.

Collaborate with the principal, school counselor, staff, parents, and students on matters pertaining to school culture and philosophy.

Maintain appropriate records and protect the confidentiality of data.

Meet the 8 Iowa Teaching Standards and 42 related criteria consistently.

Report to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education is required.

Experience in early childhood and primary classroom teaching is preferred.

Iowa Teaching Certification with an endorsement in a content area is required.

Proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical documents, assessment data, professional journals, and regulations.

Ability to write reports and communications to students, colleagues, parents, and staff.

Ability to present information orally and respond to questions from administrators, teachers, staff, and students.

Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, decimals, fractions) and ability to assist students with these concepts.

Problem‑solving and reasoning ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions.

Disposition to believe all children can attain high levels of learning.

Responsibility for students’ learning and personal performance.

Knowledge and skills to build effective educational experiences for all children.

Application of continuous‑improvement principles using quality tools and processes.

Effective interpersonal skills and integrity.

Track record of success and readiness to face educational challenges.

Ability to apply current research to support district educational goals.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.

Clear and concise oral and written communication skills.

Awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Work requires frequent standing, walking, handling objects, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. The environment is generally quiet with typical 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. hours, but may involve outdoor activities and extended hours as needed.
