Event Styling Assistant

Creative Motion Events by Fay is a Frederick, Maryland-based event design and production company serving clients throughout Maryland, D.C., and Virginia. We specialize in elevated event experiences, including private celebrations, corporate events, school events, styled installations, tablescapes, backdrops, and curated event design.
We are currently building a dependable contracted support team to assist with event setup, styling, logistics, breakdown, and occasional project support.
This is a contracted, as-needed (not full-time) event support role. Hours are based on upcoming events, project needs, and availability. While this begins as contracted support, there may be potential for a more consistent or permanent role as the company grows.
Responsibilities May Include:

Assisting with event setup and breakdown
Setting up tables, linens, chairs, and basic event layouts
Assisting with tablescapes, place settings, chargers, napkins, menus, candles, and décor details
Helping with backdrop setup, signage, welcome areas, and styled displays
Organizing rentals and décor items before, during, and after setup
Keeping setup areas clean, organized, and efficient
Assisting with vendor arrivals or basic on-site direction when needed
Completing final room checks before guest arrival
Packing décor and rentals carefully after events
Following direction from the lead designer/event lead
Representing Creative Motion Events professionally on-site
Expectations:

Must be professional, punctual, and dependable. Must work at a fast pace during setup windows. Must be able to follow direction and ask questions when needed. Must keep casual talking minimal during active setup. Must limit phone use during setup unless urgent. Must be comfortable working around clients, vendors, venue staff, and guests. Must handle décor and rental items carefully. Must be willing to wear all black and/or a provided Creative Motion Events shirt. Must have reliable transportation to and from events.
Physical Requirements:

Must be comfortable standing, bending, carrying items, and moving quickly during setup. Must be comfortable lifting approximately 20–30 pounds when needed.
Transportation Requirement:

Candidate must have reliable transportation. Events may take place in Frederick, Baltimore, D.C., Virginia, Montgomery County, Howard County, and surrounding areas. There may also be optional rental pickup/return opportunities for additional pay. These may require a valid driver's license, active car insurance, and a suitable vehicle.
Pay:

Event setup/styling support starts at $25/hour with a 2-hour minimum per event. Approved admin/project support may be available at $30/hour, depending on experience and project needs. Optional rental pickup/return opportunities may also be available for additional pay.
Ideal Candidate:

This role may be a great fit for someone studying or interested in event planning, hospitality, marketing, communications, project management, interior design, visual merchandising, business, public relations, or creative production. Prior event experience is helpful but not required. Reliability, professionalism, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic are most important.
