Screenwriter for feature film (paid) - a job post by Nitin Adsul
Location Washington, D. C., New York City, New York and Los Angeles, California
Lead Screenwriter (Script Revision & Production Polish) (PAID Position)
We are developing a feature-length biographical drama based on the remarkable true story of an immigrant’s journey from the depths of poverty in India to the halls of the U.S. Congress. This is more than a "rags-to-riches" story; it is a profound exploration of service, sacrifice, and the evolution of the American Dream.
We have a completed draft and are looking for an expert screenwriter to elevate the material into a production-ready script with high emotional resonance.
Key Creative Objectives
The primary focus of this revision is to sharpen the protagonist’s internal journey.
Engineer "Rootability": Refine the early acts to create a visceral, undeniable bond between the audience and the protagonist.
Clarify the Political Pivot: Deepen the narrative bridge between business success and public service. We must see a clear, believable, and soul-stirring motivation for a multimillionaire to walk away from private wealth to embrace the scrutiny and sacrifice of political life.
Heighten the "Dark Night of the Soul": Reconstruct the pivotal moment where the protagonist decides to abandon his political aspirations. We want to maximize the dramatic impact of his subsequent decision to stay in the race, ensuring his return to the fight feels inevitable yet earned.
Responsibilities
Conduct a deep‑dive analysis of the current draft.
Execute a comprehensive rewrite focusing on character motivation, pacing, and thematic clarity.
Enhance dialogue to reflect the protagonist's dual cultural identity and the high‑stakes environment of U.S. politics.
Ensure the script is lean, visual, and ready for casting and financing.
Candidate Requirements
Proven Track Record: At least two professional feature credits (biographical or political drama preferred).
Cultural Nuance: Ability to write authentically about the Indian diaspora and the immigrant experience.
Structure Expert: Mastery of the "mid-point shift" and the "all is lost" beat to ensure maximum emotional payoff.
Collaborative Spirit: Ability to take executive notes and translate them into cinematic beats without losing the heart of the true story.
