Building Blocks Child Care Center, Inc. in Pullman, WA is seeking a Program Supervisor to lead daily operations and curriculum in a high‑quality early learning center.

Schedule
Monday‑Friday, 8:45 AM–3:45 PM.

Start Date
The position will begin as soon as a suitable candidate is found; the official start date is July 6.

Duties

Support implementation of high‑quality emergent curriculum practices throughout the center

Collaborate with Lead Teachers to develop and implement engaging lesson plans

Prepare and organize classroom materials and supplies in advance of instruction

Support classroom routines, transitions, and daily operations across classrooms

Maintain organized, developmentally appropriate, and engaging learning environments

Support implementation of curriculum and assessment tools including ECERS, ITERS, CLASS, Zoo‑phonics, Handwriting Without Tears, and Everyday Mathematics

Assist with classroom field trips, enrichment opportunities, and center‑wide activities

Oversee student assessments, portfolios, and documentation requirements

Train and support staff in assessment practices and curriculum implementation

Conduct regular portfolio and classroom documentation checks for completion and organization

Support compliance with Washington State licensing regulations and Early Achievers standards

Assist with classroom oversight, staffing coverage, and daily center operations

Step into classrooms as needed during staffing shortages or call‑outs

Support onboarding, training, mentoring, and evaluation of staff members

Collaborate with supervisors regarding classroom needs, staffing, and program quality

Build positive relationships and maintain ongoing communication with families

Write and distribute classroom or center newsletters and family updates

Plan and coordinate family engagement events and community partnership activities

Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations and Bishop Place programs

Assist the Director with administrative responsibilities and operational support

Coordinate staffing communication and daily scheduling needs

Attend professional development trainings, meetings, and continuing education opportunities

Utilize technology and software systems for documentation, communication, and program management

Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall center operations and program quality

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 21 years of age

Must meet all Washington State DCYF licensing requirements for a Program Supervisor and/or Assistant Director position

Must hold an ECE State Certificate or DCYF‑approved equivalent through MERIT, or be actively working toward required qualifications

Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with children in a licensed early learning setting required

Minimum of three (3) years of experience leading and managing an early childhood education classroom required

Minimum of two (2) years of administrative, supervisory, or program management experience required

Strong knowledge of child development, developmentally appropriate practices, and emergent curriculum philosophy

Knowledge of Washington State Licensing (WAC) regulations and Early Achievers standards required

Experience supporting curriculum implementation, staff mentorship, classroom management, and program quality initiatives

Demonstrated leadership, organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills

Ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities in a fast‑paced early learning environment

Experience with assessment systems, lesson planning, classroom documentation, and family communication preferred

Must complete all required DCYF training and maintain ongoing professional development requirements

Current CPR/First Aid certification, Food Handler’s Permit, and other required certifications must be maintained or obtained upon hire

Must be able to successfully complete all required background checks and comply with state licensing standards

Preferred Qualifications

Must be at least 21 years of age

Must meet all Washington State DCYF licensing requirements for a Program Supervisor and/or Assistant Director position

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field preferred

Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with children in a licensed early learning setting required

Minimum of three (3) years of experience leading and managing an early childhood education classroom required

Minimum of two (2) years of administrative, supervisory, or program management experience required

Experience in a leadership role within a licensed childcare, preschool, or early learning program preferred

Strong understanding of child development, emergent curriculum, child‑led learning practices, and developmentally appropriate practices

Knowledge of Washington State Licensing (WAC) regulations and Early Achievers standards required

Experience implementing or supporting ECERS, ITERS, CLASS, Early Achievers, and other quality improvement systems preferred

Familiarity with curriculum resources such as Zoo‑phonics, Handwriting Without Tears, and Everyday Mathematics preferred

Experience coaching, mentoring, onboarding, and supporting teaching staff

Strong skills in classroom organization, curriculum implementation, assessment oversight, and licensing compliance

Experience coordinating family engagement events, community partnerships, and center‑wide activities preferred

Experience supporting enrollment, staffing coordination, or daily center operations preferred

Demonstrated leadership, organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced early learning environment

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Proficiency with classroom technology, documentation systems, Microsoft Office, and/or Google Workspace preferred

Experience with lesson planning, assessment systems, classroom documentation, and family communication preferred

Must complete all required DCYF training and maintain ongoing professional development requirements

Current CPR/First Aid certification, Food Handler’s Permit, and other required certifications must be maintained or obtained upon hire

Must be able to successfully complete all required background checks and comply with state licensing standards

Compensation & Benefits
Hourly wage is based on education and experience. The posted range reflects candidates from minimum qualifications up to those with 10+ years of experience and a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field.

Employees are eligible for wage increases based on performance. Raises are considered after the first year of employment following successful 1‑month, 90‑day, and annual evaluations demonstrating consistent growth. Additional merit increases may be awarded at any time for exceptional performance beyond standard job expectations.
