Overview
Pitney Meadows Community Farm is seeking a creative and motivated

Social Media Intern

to support and grow our digital presence across key platforms, including Meta (Instagram & Facebook), YouTube, and LinkedIn. Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Marketing and Communications, this role is designed for someone eager to gain hands-on experience in content creation, storytelling, and audience engagement.

This internship offers the opportunity to help shape how our mission comes to life online, capturing the energy of the farm, amplifying community voices, and building meaningful connections through thoughtful, engaging content. The ideal candidate is curious, organized, adaptable, and excited to both collaborate and take ownership of creative projects.

Responsibilities

Assist in planning, creating, and scheduling content across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn

Capture photo and video content on-site, including farm activities, programs, events, and behind-the-scenes moments

Support short-form and long-form video creation (Reels, Shorts, YouTube content), including basic editing using Canva (or platform with your experience)

Draft captions and contribute to storytelling that reflects the voice and mission of Pitney Meadows

Monitor engagement, respond to comments/messages as appropriate, and help identify trends or opportunities for growth

Collaborate on social media campaigns to promote programs, events, and seasonal initiatives

Support occasional community outreach events to gather content and represent the organization

Qualifications

Demonstrated interest and experience in social media content creation (personal, academic, or professional experience welcome)

Familiarity with Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn, including an understanding of platform differences and best practices

Basic video editing skills and comfort in capturing content on a phone or camera

Strong writing skills with an ability to adapt tone for different platforms

Organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple projects

Ability to be on-site regularly at Pitney Meadows Community Farm to capture content and attend occasional events (including some evenings/weekends)

Basic graphic design experience (Canva) is a plus, but not required

Passion for community-centered work, local food systems, and the mission of Pitney Meadows

Terms and Compensation
This internship is a

seasonal

position spanning from June until early September. The intern is expected to work 20-25 hours per week, with the exact amount varying based on the projects agreed upon between the intern and manager. We ask that you be willing to work some weekends and be flexible with your availability in general, as hours may vary from week to week.

The intern will be compensated for their summer work with an hourly wage of $15.50/hr and/or can be a for-credit internship.
