Role
Senior Sales Planner is a strategic partner to the Advertising Sales team. You will advise on digital and audio advertising platforms, tools, and products and act as a category expert for partner teams within the NYT Advertising pod structure. This hybrid role is based in New York, reporting to the Senior Manager, Sales Planning. Typical on-site presence is three days per week.
Responsibilities
- Strategize and develop media plans from launch to completion, understanding the role of inventory and the KPIs behind our product offering.
- Manage client requests throughout the RFP process, including plan changes, budget revisions, distribution asks, marketplace and industry information, specifications, and timelines.
- Become a "Super User" of the Order Management System, collaborating with cross-department teams on feature testing, bug fixes, and system stability during critical updates.
- Lead multiple stretch projects, including subject-matter expert work, taskforce participation, mentoring, training materials, and other priorities identified by management.
- Participate in the Mentor program to guide 1–2 Sales Planners, assign and assess work to ensure deadlines and quality, and collaborate with Media Planning Strategists to train in OMS/Workflow, NYT product knowledge, and terms and conditions.
- Foster trust-based relationships with Sales leaders through reliability, product and strategic expertise, and clear communication.
- Maintain knowledge of the advertising landscape inside and outside NYT, including viewability, terms and conditions, reporting, brand safety, data privacy, and related areas.
- Maintain proficiency with Microsoft and Gsuite applications and Salesforce.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience with Microsoft and Gsuite applications
- 3+ years of experience with Salesforce
- Experience prioritizing competing programs, responsibilities, and projects
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in an Advertising or Publication industry
Compensation and Benefits
This position is represented by the NewsGuild of NY.
Hourly base pay: $43.60 - $46.70 USD. In the U.S., may be eligible for variable pay such as annual bonus and restricted stock. Benefits may include medical, dental, and vision, flexible spending accounts, a company-matching 401(k) plan, paid vacation, paid sick days, paid parental leave, tuition reimbursement, and professional development programs.
