Growth Partner Marketing Manager

The Sage Group, San Francisco, CA, USA

Pay: $80-$90/hr

Job type: Contract

One of The Sage Group’s clients is looking for a Growth Partner Marketing Manager, from an app-based consumer tech domain. The client is a financial technology company.

About the Role

We're looking for a Growth Partnerships manager to join client's Growth team, reporting to the Senior Director, Growth Marketing. In this role, you'll be the connective tissue between client's external partners and internal partnership squad leaders — helping shape, activate, and grow strategic partnership programs that drive member acquisition and engagement.

You'll work closely alongside a dedicated Growth Partnerships Program Manager who owns timelines, workbacks, and cross-functional coordination. Your focus is on the partnership itself — building strong partner relationships, developing compelling activations, and ensuring client and its partners are aligned on goals, opportunities, and outcomes.

The ideal candidate is a natural relationship builder with a strategic mindset, experience in co-marketing or distribution partnerships, and the ability to navigate both external partner conversations and internal stakeholder alignment with ease.

In This Role, You Will

  • Partner Relationship Management: Serve as a primary point of contact for external partners, owning the day-to-day relationship, communication cadences, and trust-building across active partnership programs.

  • Squad Leader Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with client’s internal partnership squad leaders to align on program goals, surface activation opportunities, and ensure partnership initiatives are integrated into each squad's roadmap and priorities.

  • Partnership Activation & Strategy: Lead the development of co-marketing activations, joint campaigns, and incentive programs in collaboration with partners and internal stakeholders. Help shape the strategy behind each program — offers, channels, messaging, and audience targeting.

  • New Partnership Facilitation: Support the identification, evaluation, and onboarding of new growth partnerships. Help define program structure, success metrics, and activation plans for new relationships.

  • Leadership Storytelling & Reviews: Partner with the Growth Partnerships Program Manager and squad leaders to develop materials for partnership QBRs, leadership reviews, and executive updates — communicating performance, progress, and strategic direction.

  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Navigate across Growth Marketing, Product, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Creative to move partnership work forward. Represent the partnership perspective internally and bring internal priorities back to partners.

  • Budget & Investment Tracking: Maintain visibility into partnership budgets, incentive spend, and co-marketing commitments. Work with Finance and squad leaders to ensure programs are executed within plan.

To Thrive in This Role, You Have

  • 5–7 years of experience in partnerships, co-marketing, business development, or growth marketing at a tech, fintech, or consumer brand.
  • A track record of managing and growing external partner relationships, including co-marketing or distribution partnerships.
  • Experience working closely with internal squad or program leads to activate cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong communication and relationship skills — equally comfortable in partner-facing conversations and internal leadership reviews.
  • Strategic instincts for what makes a partnership program work: the right offer, the right channel, the right moment.
  • Ability to build trust and influence across teams and organizations without direct authority.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward action in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience preparing materials for QBRs, executive reviews, and joint partner planning sessions.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (JIRA, Asana, or equivalent) — you don't need to run the workback, but you need to work within one.
  • Fintech, consumer tech, or rewards/affiliate program experience a plus.
